Moving done right in Camden
Moving can be a very stressfull, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are a couple of pointers that can help ease the stress of the move. We like to call this the “moving done right” which can apply to anyone in the country.
Getting Started
Streamline the process; have a garage sale and donate items to your local or favorite charity.
If you have children you should arrange to transfer school, and medical records to your new physician in the new area. Many physician’s will work with other offices to ease your process and help make a smooth transition.
One key thing you may want to do before you hire a moving company, is to review your homeowner’s policy. Some homeowner’s policy will cover belongings during the move and at times an extended coverage may insure through the mover. This will help in keeping cost down.
Inventory: Taking an inventory of all your items you plan to move will help in the unpacking stage of your move.
Move: Make sure you request to change your address at least 30-20 days prior to the actuall move. If you wait longer you run a greater risk of missing mail. These forms are available at your post office or online: www.usps.gov
IRS Notification: One key item many forget is to notify the IRS, this may help you in the long run find out if the moving expenses may be deductible. Contact the IRS at 800-829-3676 or www.irs.ustreas.gov.
Moving Day: Have a strategy but be willing to change things at the last minute. Make sure you give the movers (if you use them) a phone number to reach you, do a final walk threw the house to make sure all items are removed, and take any plants or cherishable items with you personally.
Moving can be done right as long as you are patient, and have some organization. Best of luck!
